Formation of Internal Legal Consciousness through Moral Value Internalization in Socialization Environments
Main Article Content
Abstract
This study examines the process of moral value internalization through socialization in family, school, and community and its role in building sustainable legal compliance. A qualitative literature review approach was employed to synthesize theoretical and empirical findings from various scholarly sources. The analysis reveals that moral internalization develops through progressive stages aligned with cognitive growth, beginning from imitation of parental behavior to the achievement of postconventional moral reasoning. Internalized moral values form the foundation of legal consciousness that produces autonomous and stable compliance across different situations. Compliance driven by internal moral conviction demonstrates greater resistance to temptation, adaptability to social change, and positive contribution to psychological well-being compared to compliance based on fear of external sanctions. The three socialization agents function complementarily and require close coordination for effective internalization to occur. Success in moral internalization depends heavily on consistency between taught values and practiced behavior across all socialization environments. Social change and technological development present new challenges requiring adaptation of socialization methods. Building sustainable legal compliance demands an integrated approach combining law enforcement with moral education and strengthening of socialization agents.
