Islamic Teachings as the Foundation of Order and Social Discipline in the Educational Environment
Main Article Content
Abstract
This literature study examines the role of Islamic teachings in shaping school order and social discipline culture within the educational environment. Using a qualitative library research approach, this study collects and analyzes data from various academic sources including books, journals, and research reports published between 2000 and 2015. The analysis reveals that Islamic teachings provide a comprehensive value framework encompassing aspects of time observance, cleanliness, noble character, accountability, obedience to leaders, and collective responsibility through the principle of amar ma'ruf nahi munkar. These values form the theological and moral foundation for students' compliance with school regulations. The formation of social discipline culture through Islamic religious education involves a layered process starting from individual awareness cultivation, behavioral habituation, collective norm establishment, to support from fair reward and sanction systems. The success of this process heavily depends on teacher consistency, parental involvement, community support, and utilization of varied instructional media. Islamic religious education serves as the primary instrument connecting school regulations with religious commands, transforming discipline from externally imposed rules into internally driven spiritual awareness. This study contributes theoretically to the development of Islamic education literature and practically provides guidelines for teachers, school administrators, and policymakers in designing discipline development programs based on Islamic values. The findings emphasize that collaborative and participatory approaches involving all educational stakeholders are essential for establishing a robust and sustainable social discipline culture in schools.
