An Islamic Legal Review of Premarital Guidance and the Formation of Harmonious Families

Abstract
Premarital guidance plays an important role in preparing prospective spouses to establish stable and harmonious family relationships. This study examines the concept of marriage under Islamic law and the position of premarital guidance in fostering families characterized by tranquility, affection, and compassion. Using normative legal research, the study applies conceptual and statutory approaches through an examination of Islamic legal literature, marriage regulations, and relevant scholarly publications. The discussion indicates that marriage involves religious, legal, and social responsibilities that require adequate preparation before entering family life. Premarital guidance provides prospective spouses with knowledge concerning marital obligations, interpersonal communication, conflict management, and religious values. Its effectiveness depends on the relevance of educational materials, appropriate guidance methods, and participants' understanding of marital responsibilities. Premarital guidance therefore constitutes an important preventive educational measure, although successful family relationships ultimately depend on the continuing commitment and cooperation of both spouses.
